Where Does Baddeck Get It’s Name

Baddeck takes it’s name from the Mi’kmaq word “Abadeck” which means “An Island Nearby”. This island is “Kidston Island” named after one of the first settlers to the region. Baddeck provides an ideal central location on Cape Breton Island from which to visit the many attractions listed below.
